EXODUS was funded by the European Social Fund its Equal Community Initiative and worked across London and the South East of England. Studies have shown that employment is a key factor in tackling recidivism and therefore the project worked with ex-offenders aiming to test and develop effective interventions with Short Term Prisoners and Prolific and other Priority Offenders (PPO's), in order to increase the employability, and job-readiness of its beneficiaries. Between July 2005 and December 2007, EXODUS supported over 900 beneficiaries, helping empower them to secure employment, training and qualifications. Led by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), EXODUS worked with a variety of key partners including Prison and Probation Areas for South East and London, Government Offices for the South East and London, LSC, Jobcentre Plus, Unlock, and National Housing Federation amongst many others.
EXODUS operated through 15 pilot sites across London and the South East. The diverse Development Partnerships (DP's) are each comprised of a variety of organisations from both the Voluntary and Community Sector and the Statutory Sector to provide holistic, through-the-gate support to offenders.
